Charlotte, North Carolina Law Firm

Spengler & Agans has deep ties to Charlotte, one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country and a thriving center for innovation and entrepreneurship. Known as a major banking and financial hub, Charlotte’s dynamic economy also embraces technology, manufacturing, and a rapidly growing startup ecosystem.

Startups and emerging companies are driving innovation in sectors such as fintech, healthtech, energy, and advanced manufacturing, contributing to Charlotte’s reputation as a vibrant place to launch and scale a business.

Community Connections

At Spengler & Agans, we are proud to serve Charlotte’s dynamic business community and the surrounding Mecklenburg County area.

Startup Community

Since the firm’s creation in 2013, we have supported the local startup community through sponsorships, mentoring, guest lecturing, and participating as a panelist. For over a decade Spengler & Agans has sponsored Pitch Breakfast, Charlotte’s oldest continuous entrepreneurial event. Each month, three startups pitch their companies to a panelist of investors and the audience, followed by feedback from the investor panel and a Q+A session with the audience. (It’s like Shark Tank but without the sharks.). Justin has been a mentor for Startup Weekend and appeared as a guest lecturer for business law classes at Davidson, Queens University, UNC Charlotte, UNC Asheville, and Central Piedmont Community College.

Animal Adoption

Both Justin and Eric have adopted dogs in the local community. Eric’s dog, Whiskey, comes to work most days, where he happily sleeps on the couch in Eric’s office. Whiskey is a half-German shepherd, half-jawed cancer survivor with a second lease on life, after having been abandoned with a large tumor. Recently, Whiskey was runner-up in the Rescue Brew competition co-sponsored by the Humane Society of Charlotte and NoDa Brewing Company.

Local Parks and the Environment

Eric has always been civically minded, and he went to law school after graduating with a degree in political science. In the Charlotte community, Eric is an advocate for parks and the environment. In 2016, he was named Sustain Charlotte’s “Volunteer of the Year” for his service on a city council task force. From 2016-2019 he served as a supervisor on the Mecklenburg Soil and Water Consdervation District. In 2019, he formed a non-profit, Friends of Queens Park, that was dedicated to bringing a “Central Park” to Charlotte. Eric currently serves as the secretary of the Villa Heights Community Organization.
